I was recently engaged by recruitment firm Salt & Shein to provide them with corporate headshots, portraits and team photos. The photos were primarily to be used on their website, but will also be used for other marketing and collateral.
The firm had already had the photos taken, but unfortunately were disappointed by the results and had decided to throw them away and start over. In order to ensure that this did not happen again I scheduled a meeting with the client to fully understood what images were needed, and what had gone wrong before. We also spent time looking at potential locations together, evaluating how well they matched the look that they wanted for the photos as well as other considerations such as access, lighting, weather, practicality, etc.
I also arranged a hair and make-up artist for the day, which not only helps everyone looked great but also makes them feel great – this is a great trick to help bring out the very best in people.
We started with some “candid” images – the aim here is to show someone in a natural, candid moment.
We also took some shots in the same location of the subjects looking to camera, before moving on to a second location to photograph some more staff. Once again we captured individual corporate headshots with the subjects looking both off camera and to camera.
Moving location once again we found an interesting background to use for some small group shots of the senior team.
Next we took a couple of shots of the full team. The first was in the lobby of the office.
And we then moved outside and created a shot specifically designed to be used as a website banner image.
Finally we stayed in the same location and captured individual corporate headshots of each of the team, a couple of which are shown below.
We wrapped the shoot up in good time for them to get away for a celebratory team lunch, but not before my fabulous assistant had grabbed a shot of me in action.
After we delivered the retouched files a few days later the client commented how happy they were with how much better the shoot had been in every aspect, from the preparation and pre-shoot meeting, through the experience on the day to the final retouched photos they received a few days later.
Another happy client!
